Are you comparing your bill with one we sent you previously?

Have extra people been living in the property during the time concerned?
Do the bills that you are comparing cover the same amount of time?
Do the bills relate to the same season?
Have you bought any new appliances recently?

Are you comparing your bill with that of another household?

Are there as many people in the household?
Does the other property have the same heating and hot water system as yours?
Do both houses have:
Loft insulation?
Cavity wall insulation?
Is the same amount and quality of insulation installed?
Double glazing?
Lagging on hot water tank and pipes?
Are the properties the same age, for example a new house compared with an older house? Newer houses tend to be better insulated and keep their heat for longer.
Is the other property in a more favourable position, perhaps mid-terrace compared with end of terrace. Does it get more sun?
